Four season in one day

Anyone coming to visit Ireland for the first time I always tell them to make sure you never go anywhere without your rain coat or your sun glasses as the weather can vary from hour to hour. Yesterday was one of those truly magical days in West Cork, the weather was stunning and I was most fortunate to spend the best part of the day visiting a spectacular property just outside Castletownshend, fitting in a gorgeous lunch at MaryAnn’s Bar & Restaurant. The pub dates to 1846, and has been in the energetic and hospitable ownership of Fergus and Patricia O’Mahony since 1988; and  is very much an institution in West Cork.

However, what a difference a day makes, as today is only a day suitable  for ducks. Though, as I was once told by a former German client ‘There is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing for weather’ . You have been warned, just come prepared.
